Discover the extraordinary history of a painting, perhaps one of the smallest known formats of the Dutch master. It is preserved today in the collections of the museum of Tours. This small painting painted in 1627 when Rembrandt was just 21 years old, marks a turning point in the style of the young painter, it is one of his first chiaroscuro, a revolution in the history of painting. The painting disappeared for nearly 150 years before reappearing in the 18th century in several auctions. It was found a century later in a private collection in Touraine.
