Nicknamed the “peasant of avant-garde”, Fernand Léger (1881-1955) developed a very identifiable style to be associated with the cubist movement. Inspired by industrial modernity, (“Plane in the Sky”), Fernand Léger’s figures and colours were interwoven in an abstract manner as in “The Big Black Divers”.
