Frantisek Kupka

Frantisek Kupka
Frantisek Kupka (1871-1957) is a Czech painter who, along with Wassily Kandinsky and Piet Mondrian, is considered to be one of the fathers of Abstract art. Although “Chimneys”, housed at the Musée d’Orsay in Paris, is still a figurative painting, from 1910 he turns towards the Abstract, as can be seen in “Around a Point”, 1911. His pictures are colourful (“Violet and Yellow, Reminiscence”) and influenced by his research into the Abstract movement (“Time Passing By”, “Steel Working” or even “Music”). Enjoy your visit!
