Abstract expressionism in America

Abstract expressionism in America
Abstract Expressionism is an artistic movement which developed in the United States in the 1940s, influenced by Surrealism and abstract European painting. One of the main exponents of this movement is Jackson Pollock, (1912-1956): he invented a new technique in painting, known as “dripping”, which “Painting” (1948) is a good example of. Notice as well examples of colorfield painting by Mark Rothko and Barnett Newman exposed at the Moderne art Museum in Los Angeles or the Fine art museum in Canada. Enjoy your visit!
