The Musée de Picardie in Amiens is a prototype. It is the first museum built as such in France. But its construction was not easy. The Museum was initially intended to be a "Petit Louvre", a palace. It was only gradually, over a construction site that lasted 40 years - a record! - and through spectacular reassessments, that the Museum triumphed over the Monument, that the architectural object adapted to its true function.
