Royal Treasures
This special edition of Antiques Roadshow, marking the coronation of King Charles, revisits some of the most fascinating royal-related artefacts featured on the show. Fiona Bruce gets an inside look at Westminster Abbey’s coronation preparations, while the team discovers new royal-linked items in the stunning grounds of Fulham Palace. Frances Christie examines rare stamps, including a sheet of Penny Blacks and the newly issued Charles III stamps. Ceramics expert Serhat Ahmet shares tips on collectable coronation keepsakes and reconnects with a collector who showcased a rare set of coronation mugs on the show 25 years ago. Fiona explores preserved coronation memorabilia at the Museum of Brands, such as a crisp packet, a 1953 cut-out coach from a cereal box, and a 120-year-old chocolate bar. Precious royal artefacts also make an appearance, including a document signed by Queen Elizabeth I and a gold bracelet gifted by Queen Victoria to her lady-in-waiting. Finally, we revisit some of the show’s most unusual royal treasures, from a royal toilet seat and Queen Victoria’s undergarments to an X-ray of King Edward VIII’s hand.
